What to Expect at a Little Love Notes Session

Let’s Set the Scene…

You’ve booked (or you’re thinking about booking) a Little Love Notes – Valentine’s Studio Mini Session.
You’re excited… but maybe also a bit nervous.

Will you know what to do?
Will your children cooperate?
What if you feel awkward?
What if 15 minutes isn’t enough?

First things first - breathe.
These mini sessions are designed to be simple, cosy and fuss-free.
You don’t need to be a model.
You don’t need to know how to pose.
You don’t need to arrive with anything more than yourselves and a little willingness to lean in.

If you’re wondering what the experience is actually like, here’s a gentle walkthrough of everything you can expect, from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave.

Before You Arrive: The Calm Before the Sweetness

In the days leading up to your session, you’ll receive:

✔ a confirmation email
✔ your slot time
✔ the studio address
✔ a little note about what to wear
✔ what to expect on the day

You don’t need to bring props.
You don’t need to overthink outfits.
You don’t need to plan poses.

Honestly, the less you plan, the better because the whole magic of these minis is letting natural moments unfold.

If you have children joining you, all you need to bring is… them.
Curious, wiggly, giggly, shy… all versions are welcome.
This session is designed around their natural energy, not against it.

Arriving at the Studio: Warm, Relaxed, Welcomed

When you arrive, you’ll step into a studio space that feels soft and neutral, nothing intimidating, nothing overwhelming. Just gentle light, warm tones and a setup made to feel like home.

We’ll have a quick chat, settled and friendly, to ease you in.
If you’re a couple, this often looks like a small laugh or two as the initial nerves shake off.
If you’re a family, it might be your little one exploring the space, and me saying hello at their pace.

I never start shooting straight away.
I let you breathe first.

How the Love Note Moment Works

Once everyone feels comfortable, we begin the heart of the session:
the handwritten love note or drawing moment.

This single prompt shapes the whole experience.

Here’s how it unfolds:

  1. You sit close - really close: Shoulders brushing, knees tucked in, your child on a lap or squeezed between you. This closeness is already a photo in itself.

  2. You write or draw something small: A message. A single word. A little doodle. A wobbly heart. Children often take the lead here — and their determination as they scribble is ridiculously adorable. Couples often tease each other, trying to peek at what’s being written. Parents often soften into something warm and honest without even realising.

  3. You react: This is the real magic. The quiet smiles. The giggles. The surprise. The whispered “what have you drawn there?” The way a child proudly holds up their picture for you to see. The way someone’s whole face lights up reading what you wrote. These are the moments I capture. Not perfection. Not posing. Just real emotion.

What If You Feel Awkward?

You won’t for long.
I promise.

The beauty of documentary-style studio minis is that the focus isn’t on posing - it’s on doing something together.

Giving your hands a task (drawing or writing) takes the pressure away.
Suddenly, you’re not thinking about the camera; you’re just in a moment with someone you love.

Within minutes, people forget they’re being photographed.

And even if you’re shy?
That shyness often becomes part of the story - a sweet, genuine detail you’ll look back on fondly.

What About Kids Who Don’t Sit Still?

Short answer: they don’t need to.

Fifteen minutes is the perfect window for little ones.. long enough to warm up, short enough to stay engaged.

If your child wanders… we follow.
If they wiggle… we go with it.
If they laugh… perfect.
If they cling to you… also perfect.

Children being themselves is exactly what we want.
Their personalities bring the magic.

No pressure.
No expectation.
No need for “perfect behaviour”.

What If You Don’t Know How to Pose?

You don’t need to.

I guide gently, with prompts instead of instructions, like:

“Cuddle in a little closer.”
“Show them your drawing.”
“Whisper something silly.”
“Hold their hand and look at them.”

These prompts help create natural moments rather than forced ones.
You’ll never be left wondering where to stand or what to do.

Think of it like this:
You’re just spending time together.
I’m simply there, quietly catching the beautiful bits.

What 15 Minutes Feels Like

People are often surprised by this, but 15 minutes is plenty for a session built around connection.

It feels like:

– a soft, cosy burst of togetherness
– a chance to pause the world for a moment
– a gentle invitation to slow down
– a quick little love-filled chapter in your day

It’s not rushed.
It’s not chaotic.
It’s just enough time for warmth to show up naturally.

What Happens After the Session

Once your session ends, you’re free to enjoy your day and I start the careful process of selecting and editing your images.

Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Your gallery delivered within 2–4 weeks: This keeps things realistic and sustainable around my full-time job, but still timely.

  2. A curated selection of the best images: No duplicates, no fillers - just the moments that feel like you.

  3. Five edited images included: Clean, warm, natural edits that honour the emotion of the moment.

  4. Option to upgrade: If you fall in love with more (most people do), you’ll be able to purchase additional images or the full gallery.

What Makes These Minis So Special

These sessions aren’t about Valentine’s decorations or props.
They’re about:

– the way you look at each other
– the way your child draws with total concentration
– the way your partner laughs at your note
– the way little hands grip big hands
– the way your love lives in gestures, not poses

This is why I call them Little Love Notes — because the note is only the beginning. What it creates… that’s where the magic lies.

These sessions capture not just what love looks like, but what it feels like.

Who These Sessions Are For

  • Couples: Soft, intimate, meaningful moments without the pressure of a full shoot.

  • Small families: Sweet chaos and genuine emotion wrapped into 15 perfect minutes.

  • Parents and little ones: A keepsake you’ll treasure for years.

  • Anyone wanting something affordable and heartfelt: Simple, warm photography without the fuss.

A Final Note: Come As You Are

These sessions aren’t about being perfect.
They’re about being you.

Come in your comfy clothes or your Valentine’s outfits.
Come with your messy hair or clean curls.
Come with excited children or shy ones.
Come with nerves or confidence.

Just come as you are.
The love you bring is enough.
